On June 22, 2025, Elsewhere XIII was auctioned at London’s historic Dorchester Hotel as part of the third edition of Voices of Palestine — a landmark fundraiser that brought together internationally acclaimed artists, collectors, and humanitarians in support of emergency medical aid in Gaza.
Curated by Zayna Al-Saleh, the fine art section featured works by leading voices in contemporary art — including Banksy, Mona Hatoum, Rana Begum, Dia al-Azzawi, Peter Doig, and others — each contributing in solidarity. My work Elsewhere XIII, a photo-collage from 2020 that deconstructs romanticized 19th-century photochromes of Palestine, sold for £7,500, surpassing its catalogue estimate.
More than £250,000 was raised on the night. The proceeds go to the Hanoon Foundation, a registered charity providing critical healthcare and medical training across Gaza, the West Bank, and refugee camps in Lebanon. As organiser Yosra Elgonaid said: “This is not just about raising money. Gaza still needs us. Solidarity is not just a moment, it’s a commitment.”
The event also featured moving speeches by figures like Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot, lawyer Selma Dabbagh, and Palestinian-American activist Lina Hadid, and was capped by a powerful live performance by Le Trio Joubran.
To share space with such powerful voices — and to see Elsewhere XIII resonate in this context — is a reminder of why I create: to reclaim vision, to rebel against erasure, and to insist that Palestine not only be remembered, but seen anew.
